Megacon 2006...this was the first con of this type I had ever been to: part scifi, part comic book, part anime. A ton of people were dressed up in costumes, the anime ones being the most unique I've ever seen! It was more of an expo type format, tons of booths with comic books and collectibles. And tables where the guests sit to sign autographs. So you could just walk up to the table and talk to them. A new experience for me!

I had planned to meet up with some folks I had met on the Stargate SciFi.com message board a couple of years earlier (some post about a hurricane). To my surprise, they were, um, normal! We all hit if off great. I had packed a bag "just in case" I would be staying at the hotel with them. There were four of them, three gals and one of the gals boyfriend. So I ended up staying with them. So here we are, the five die-hard SG1 fans together at last on a Stargate Friday night to watch the show together...we could barely keep our eyes open to watch the show. And we fell asleep before SG Atlantis even started. What party animals, eh? The next morning, one of the gals had committed to pick up another mb member at the bus station, while the others went to Universal Studios. I told here no way was she going by herself, she doesn't know this guy. Then reality slapped me across the face; I had just spent the night in a hotel room with four people I had never met!

To be continued...

Very nice guy. Told him my Cuban grandmother's name was Cruz. Told me his family was from Puerto Rico. Next time will have to speak to him in Spanish.
Marina was a sweetheart. I had met her at a previous con, where I didn't think she was very friendly, and passed it off as her "being British" (*ducks to avoid being hit by something). I had found out later there were some tensions among the guests at that con. She has such a sunny disposition. It was the end of the con and she was charging just $2 for photos/autographs, with the cost going to an animal shelter. I gave her $20, can't resist a charity for animals.

Boy did he ever grow up! I still can't see past little Jake Sisco, though. What a sweetheart, gave my son an autographed "baseball" card of himself as Jake.

Steve Bacic, Andromeda, Stargate SG1. Somehow I got mixed up with a lovely bunch of gals called the BaChics. So we had a private fan club panel with him. My friend J. and I, who had just met in person for the first time, couldn't stop chatting during his fan panel. One member asked us to shhh. Wanting to come up with any excuse to talk to him, back in the con center I went up and apologized for the chattiness. He said he didn't notice and said he thought J. & I were sisters.
