This con I went solo. Didn't know a soul. Was pretty easy to make friends, though. I find that people at cons in the South are much more apporoachable. There were a couple of guys at this con that I swore were hired by my husband to follow me...I took refuge with a couple of girls in retro Star Trek dresses.

I bought tickets for the "dinner with the guests", which is always a worthwhile investment. You get to sit at the table with at least one of the guests.

I was so impressed with this con that I had to tell one of the promoters so.

One of my favorite stories from her panel involved Will Wheaton; in between scenes, still dressed in their Starfleet costumes, they decided to explore the studio. The movie "Coming to America" starring Eddie Murphy was filiming. They snuck into the scene where the African dancers were perfoming...the director noticed and started yelling "cut, who is that, what are they doing there??!!". They ran out and didn't get caught. She says if you play the video and pause the screen you can see it...will have to put that on my Blockbuster list.

Gates was a last minute replacement for Johnathan Frakes, who was stuck in Maine because of weather. She flew in overnight, and after a quick coffee, was ready to go. Even though I had met her before, she was a worthy replacement.

I wasn't much of an original Star Trek fan, but I like Walter's character in Babylon5. While we were wating in line for the autograph room to open, he came down the line saying "visit Walter's table, visit Walter's table". Funny guy.

At dinner I sat at the table with Andrew Probert, who is credited with designing the Enterprise D. During the panel he explained how he re-arragned the engines from the orignal Enterprise to be more realistic from an engineering standpoint. He seems to take this approach with his work.

Armin was a perfect gentleman. Avery is the classic Jazz musician, speaks very poetically with that deep, raspy voice.

During the buffet, I couldn't resist telling Mr. Brooks I chose the Chicken a la Sisko.

Ok now I'm struggling to remember anything from the panels. Will have to take notes next time...

It wouldn't be Vulkon without some Klingons...

Or Romulans.

For the talent contest, these guys did a rendition of "Soul Man". Romulans as Blues Brothers...illogical.

But where are the Vulcans?
