United Fan Con

November 2003

Springfield, MA

This was my first scifi convention! I wasn't sure what to expect; I have visions of Trekkies in costumes. There were a few, and some, like myself, in Stargate SG-1 uniforms. I am the biggest geek!

I brought my oldest son, who wasn't very impressed and couldn't wait to get out of there. Fortunately I found a UFO Lego set in the dealer's room, so I could listen to at least one panel discussion. Well that lasted about 1/2 hour.

The panel discussions, where the actor/actors are up on stage and the audience asks questions, was a riot. The duo of Gary Graham (Alien Nation) and Alan Ruck (Star Trek) had me in stitches. Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1) was also there, as well as many other scifi actors.

Most of the actors were signing autographs at tables in the hallway, so we really got a chance to chat with them.

I think I'm hooked...
