Megacon 2010

Good news...turns out I'm not the biggest geek in the world. Spending two days with people you can carry on a scifi conversation with without sounding insane is glorious.

Lea Thompson was there, didn't get a photo and regret it. She was so kind to her fans, really took the time to talk to them and was really gracious. I had forgotten she had a show called Caroline in the City, I loved that show!

Also chatted with Billy Dee Williams, a legend. Had a conversation about costume jewelery, of all things.

Brent Spiner (Data), John DeLancie ("Q"), and Levar Burton (Geordi) from Star Trek: Next Generation

Ray Park, Star Wars & Heroes

One of my students drew that picture for him last year...I had told him I was going to meet Ray Park and I would get it as a "going to kindergarten" present. Ray couldn't make it last year, but this year I got a second chance. Ray was thrilled to hear the story & so grateful. As you can see he wrote a really nice note to him on the Darth Maul photo.

It was fun to see him interact with James Hong who was right next to him. They would break out into martial arts poses every once in a while.  Oh and here he is...

A very funny and flirty James Hong. As I approached his table at the end of the con to say hi, he shouts "Seinfeld, 4!". I was dying to hear that, but too shy to ask...l got my wish! So I squealed in delight "thank you for saying that" to which he says "oh, free autograph for you!". Of course I picked the Seinfeld photo collage for him to sign. He was giving me a little tickle in the ribs. Oh look, there's the salad! Ok here's the story behind that:

On of my tasks Sunday was to fetch James Hong's salad; I was told the cafe would take a piece of chicken, cut it up and add it to their spinach salad for $1 more. Day two and a change of staff, they refused to do it at all. So I yelled at them, they yelled at me, I yelled back, and left triumphantly with a Chicken Spinach Salad for James Hong.

My friend Torie and I, at the end of a long convention weekend. It was absolutely awesome volunteering for Megacon. Truly a team effort. Oh, look, I think that's Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett, Star Wars) in the background. He looks like he's getting his own autograph (he was actually packing up).

Ghostbusters?

Not sure what the current popularity is with Ghost Busters, there were many cosplayers and fan clubs present.
